With more than a thousand years of history this large stone vessel, suspended in the heart of the city, invites you to travel in time.
In turn, a count’s residence, a stronghold, a royal prison and a barracks, the castle has defied time and countless attacks to become today a Pyrenean museum (Musée Pyrénéen).
A rich and varied route to discover alone or with the family:
- preserved defensive architecture (dungeon, drawbridge, portcullis),
- an exceptional panorama of the Sanctuary and the Pyrenees;
- a museum that tells the story of life in the French Pyrenees in the 19th and early 20th centuries;
- a time of breathing and relaxation in the botanical garden.
